Industry overview:

 In this era of liberalization and globalization management education has assumed greater importance. There are hundreds of MNC’s coming to India today and they require managerial skills. There is also no denying the fact that there is a lack of a good number of skilled persons in the market. Management education can and will bridge that gap , hence there is growing importance and relevance of management education. The management studies has become so specialized that it encompasses a vast field of studies in Business management , Human Resource management , International Management, Public system management, operational research , technology management ,Hospital management , Hotel management , Disater management , Event management etc.  The management studies prime concern is to create thought-pattern template that can be applicable to all industries and sectors and can potentially add value everywhere in every event. Be it politics , rural hinterland , filmmaking , or running an MNC. There are BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) and MBA (Master of Business Administration) courses available widely. Whereas the BBA course is of 3 years in duration, the MBA course is of 2 years in duration generally though sometimes it may also be a 1 year course. There are also some shorter duration courses as well as part time MBA courses. There are courses leading to a PGDBM, Post graduate Diploma Programmes in Management (equivalent of MBA) and Fellowship programmes in Management (equivalent to PhD).

Eligibility:

Graduate studies in business require a good percentage in 12th standard from any subject stream. Selection is either on the basis of 12th percentage or through an entrance test. Postgraduate studies require an undergraduate degree like BA, BSc or BTech  in ant discipline and clearance of entrance selection process. Requirement of a minimum of two years of work experience is likely to be introduced for eligibility to most master programmes to ensure these are at par with international management courses.

Job Prospects & Remuneration:

Fresh management graduates are usually recruited on-campus. Corporate organizations, multinationals, foreign banks, foreign financial institutions and others attempt to woo students from the top management schools with lucrative offers. Most of the major business schools have also initiated career placements schemes for the benefit of graduating candidates’ .Even in the worst time like this economic downturn hardworking and intelligent students have got good breaks. The career prospects for those with an MBA degree and especially for those holding an MBA degree from one of the reputed Managment School is sky high. Business managers are required in almost every business. So changing jobs is also not much of a problem as those with an MBA degree from reputed institutes do not find it difficult to find employment. Business managers are among the highest earners in the country today. An MBA degree from a reputed Managment School, almost always guarantees high salaries. The remuneration for business managers is among the highest in the country. Rs 50,000 per month is almost an average if one holds an MBA degree from the above mentioned business management institutes and the upper limit can stretch to several lakhs per month for those placed overseas.
